Montalto is a family-run winery in the west of Sicily. The family coat of arms and the sun that appears on the bottle signifies Sicilian warmth and family pride.
Organically grown grapes were cultivated at 250-350 meters above sea level in the area of Salaparuta in the west of Sicily. The soil is clayey and the climate is the Mediterranean, very dry and hot. The vineyard is free from pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers. The grapes were harvested by hand.
Grapes were destemmed, crushed, and transferred to stainless steel tanks for a six-day maceration period with daily pump-overs. After maceration, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. There was no oak aging.
