BREAD: A STAPLE FOOD IN EVERY ITALIAN MEAL

Whether it is used to accompany food or to mop up pasta sauce in a plate, bread is an unmissable element in every Italian meal. Bread is not just part of the Italian culinary tradition, but it is also part of the Italian culture; its roots date back to Romans times as well as having a significant meaning in the Christian religion.

Even if bread is meant to be enjoyed with the actual lunch and dinner themselves, Italians use to pair it with a variety of foods and ingredients. Bread is therefore an essential component for every meal of the day. It can be paired with jam and butter for a rich breakfast, with mortadella for a snack, with cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, and salt to accompany an aperitif.

As a deli specialised in high-quality Italian products, Bellavita Shop knows how important bread is in the Italian diet. That’s why we are so keen to provide freshly baked bread to our deli and e-shop clients every day. Our sourdough bread Struan is made with the healthy combination of eight grains and with finest ingredients to strike the perfect balance of taste, aroma, and texture.

The bread is also made in its own time using sourdough technique: this slow fermentation ensures that all the nutrients are extracted from the flour, which makes it easier to digest.

A huge thanks goes to our official bread supplier Breid Bakers, a bakehouse based in Bethnal Green, which passionately hand-craft bread according to its unique recipes.

Heartfelt thanks to Breid Bakers for helping us to keep our shelves stocked and for supplying us, despite the risks, every single day of the global lockdown; we highly appreciate their efforts and commitment during such a challenging time.
